Emporia Pro Level 2 EV Charger (White, NACS, NEMA 14-50 Plug)

The Emporia Pro is a smart Level 2 home charger for Tesla and other EVs with the Tesla-style (NACS) port. This is the white version with a NEMA 14-50 plug: plug it into a 14-50 outlet, or have your electrician detach the plug and hardwire it for full 48 amp charging. PowerSmart load management and the Emporia Vue 3 home energy monitor are included, so most homes can add full-speed charging without a panel upgrade.

Plug-in or hardwired?

Plugged into a NEMA 14-50 outlet on a 50 amp breaker, it charges at up to 40 amps. Hardwired on a 60 amp breaker, it charges at the full 48 amps. To hardwire it, your electrician detaches the plug assembly (never cut the cord, which voids the warranty) and follows Emporia's NEMA to hardwire guide.

Questions

Will it charge my Tesla? Yes. It has the Tesla (NACS) connector and works with the Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck, plus other EVs with a NACS port.

Do I need a panel upgrade? Often not. PowerSmart watches your home's power use and lowers the charger's draw when other appliances run, so the total stays within your panel's limit.

Does it work with utility programs? Emporia is on Indiana Michigan Power's supported list for Charge Sync Rewards, an $8 monthly bill credit for charging overnight. Check with your own utility for its programs.
